1977 represents a turning point.

We believe it is worth asking a simple question: What changed?

1977 Foundation exists to help people build stronger footing today through practical nutrition support, education, community, and self-reliance.

Our foundation

Help people move forward from where they are today.

We do not believe there is one cause or one simple answer. We believe practical help matters: better food, useful education, stronger community connections, and opportunities for people to build greater self-reliance.

What we're building

Simple programs. Useful support. Stronger footing.

01

Nutrition

Improve access to nutritious whole foods and practical nutrition education that people can actually use.

02

Community

Support community-based programs that meet people where they are and strengthen local relationships.

03

Purpose

Provide resources and opportunities that support informed choices, confidence, and greater self-reliance.

Why the name?

“1977 isn’t about going backward. It’s about asking what changed — and using what we learn to help people today.”

Around the mid-to-late 1970s, the American relationship with food, health and everyday life entered a period of significant change. We use 1977 as an invitation to ask better questions, not to assign a single cause.

Beginning

We're at the start.

1977 Foundation is being built deliberately: listening first, testing practical ideas, and focusing on programs that can make a real difference without becoming preachy or complicated.

The organization is currently in its formation stage. Program details, board information, charitable status and ways to support the work will be updated as they are finalized.
